The show, Aspects, that is now up in our gallery includes six of our great artists: Andrea Joki, Amber Kempthorn, Deb Lawrence, Dana Oldfather, Frank Oriti, and Marc Ross. For the next three weeks, this blog will show two of the artists. Aspects runs until October 6th so if you haven’t come in yet, we hope to see you soon!
Deb Lawrence lived and worked as an artist in Cleveland, Ohio most of her adult life. For many years she was the artist coordinator for the Tower Press Building, a burgeoning live/work/loft artist community in downtown Cleveland. Lawrence worked hard to empower and elevate the group by obtaining funding and organizing the group toward establishing a forum for regular artist critique as well as mounting more scholarly, curated exhibitions. She also wrote about contemporary art for the Collective Arts Network CAN Journal by linking her contemporary practice to regional and national exhibitions and broader issues of the day.
Dana Oldfather was born in Berea, Ohio in 1978. She is a painter who has exhibited in galleries and museums in Australia and the United States including Library Street Collective and The Butler Institute of American Art. She is proud to have been awarded the William and Dorothy Yeck Award for Young Painters and an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award. Oldfather was twice featured in the New York Times, and published in the book The Art of Spray by Lori Zimmer of Art Nerd New York. Oldfather’s work was recently exhibited at Texas Contemporary, Miami Project, Art Palm Beach, Art Palm Springs, and Art on Paper art fairs. Her paintings are internationally collected privately and can be found in many public and corporate collections in the US including the Pizzuti Collection with The Joseph Editions, Eaton Corporation, MGM International, The Cleveland Clinic, and the prestigious Progressive Art Collection. Dana Oldfather currently works and lives just outside Cleveland, Ohio with her husband Randall and young son Arlo.
